A Wonderful Birthday Morning!

Today is my birthday! The first thing I thought of when I woke up was."happy birthday to me" haha then I got out the card my parents sent with me to open here. It was beautiful and is now decorating my room. My roomie came to wish me happy birthday and gave me a hug. At breakfast the volunteer mom said a loud happy birthday and everyone has been sending birthday wishes all morning. Tonight we will have cake. I have been trying to decide what I wanted to do on my birthday. I knew I didn't want to do food prep. I decided I wanted to do something that will leave a lasting impact at Harnas long after I leave. So I did farm work. I help dig holes 5 feet deep to install a.fence for a new ostriach enclosure so Atheno can have a bigger.enclosure. I was very excited that marieta was going to be with us. Today is also a big day for Atheno. Today he is starting a soft release to the lifeline so he can be a wild cheetah. Everyone was taking pictures and Caleb videotaped it. It went very well. All of his basic instincts are great. He will do wonderfully. We went with marieta to look at the new enclosure and told us where to dig. She has such a great sense of humor. I am so happy she said that tonight she is coming to the village to talk to the volunteers. I couldn't ask for a better dinner guest on my birthday, except my family...and maybe Ghandi but don't get me started on that (it still blows my mind) After we finished our holes I felt a great sense of accomplishment and proud that something I did would help for a long time. Then I met up with marieta and asked if she would be willing to sign my copy of Soul of the Lion. She said she would be happy to and bring it to.dinner. I feel so blessed to be here. Its lunch time but.I just had to share my wonderful morning
